Chapter 12 · Bhakti Yoga

Honest Questions · The Courage to Ask

अर्जुन उवाच । एवं सततयुक्ता ये भक्तास्त्वां पर्युपासते । ये चाप्यक्षरमव्यक्तं तेषां के योगवित्तमाः ॥

arjuna uvāca evaṁ satata-yuktā ye bhaktās tvāṁ paryupāsate ye cāpy akṣaram avyaktaṁ teṣāṁ ke yoga-vittamāḥ

Meaning

"Arjuna said: Between those who are ever steadfastly devoted to Your personal form and those who worship the imperishable, unmanifest Absolute, whom do You consider most perfect in yoga?"

Explanation

Arjuna opens this chapter with an honest question rather than an assumption — he isn't sure which path is higher, and he simply asks. Some of the most useful growth starts with admitting you don't yet know.

Today's Life Lesson

If you're unsure which path is right for you today, it's okay to simply ask rather than pretend to already know.
