Chapter 13 · Kshetra Kshetrajna Vibhaga Yoga

Clear-Eyed Awareness · Loosening the Grip

इन्द्रियार्थेषु वैराग्यमनहङ्कार एव च । जन्ममृत्युजराव्याधिदुःखदोषानुदर्शनम् ॥

indriyārtheṣu vairāgyam anahaṅkāra eva ca janma-mṛtyu-jarā-vyādhi-duḥkha-doṣānudarśanam

Meaning

"Dispassion toward sense objects, absence of egoism, and a clear-eyed insight into the suffering inherent in birth, death, old age, and disease—"

Explanation

Seeing clearly the hardships built into simply being alive isn't pessimism — it's what actually loosens our grip on things we were clinging to too tightly.

Today's Life Lesson

Let an honest look at life's difficulties soften your grip on something you've been holding too tightly.
