Chapter 8 · Akshara Brahma Yoga

Cycle of Existence · Beyond Helpless Repetition

भूतग्रामः स एवायं भूत्वा भूत्वा प्रलीयते । रात्र्यागमेऽवशः पार्थ प्रभवत्यहरागमे ॥

bhūtagrāmaḥ sa evāyaṁ bhūtvā bhūtvā pralīyate, rātryāgame'vaśaḥ pārtha prabhavaty aharāgame.

Meaning

"O Partha, this same multitude of beings, coming into existence again and again, dissolves helplessly at the coming of night, and arises again at the coming of day."

Explanation

Being caught in endless repetition without choice is exactly what points toward seeking something beyond the cycle.

Today's Life Lesson

If today feels like the same cycle repeating, use it as a gentle nudge to seek something more lasting.
