Chapter 6 · Dhyana Yoga

Honest About the Struggle · Taming the Restless Mind

चञ्चलं हि मनः कृष्ण प्रमाथि बलवद्दृढम् । तस्याहं निग्रहं मन्ये वायोरिव सुदुष्करम् ॥

cañcalaṁ hi manaḥ kṛṣṇa pramāthi balavad dṛḍham tasyāhaṁ nigrahaṁ manye vāyor iva suduṣkaram

Meaning

"The mind is indeed restless, turbulent, strong, and obstinate, O Krishna; I think it is as hard to control as the wind."

Explanation

Arjuna doesn't pretend the mind is easy to master — he says plainly it feels as hard as catching the wind. It's comforting, in a way, to know that even a devoted seeker finds this struggle real and admits it out loud.

Today's Life Lesson

If your mind feels impossible to settle today, you're in good company — admit the struggle honestly and keep gently working at it anyway.
