कामैस्तैस्तैर्हृतज्ञानाः प्रपद्यन्तेऽन्यदेवताः । तं तं नियममास्थाय प्रकृत्या नियताः स्वया ॥

kāmais tais tair hṛtajñānāḥ prapadyante'nyadevatāḥ, taṁ taṁ niyamam āsthāya prakṛtyā niyatāḥ svayā.

Meaning

"Those whose discernment is carried away by various desires surrender to other deities, following particular rites, guided by their own inborn nature."

Explanation

Chasing many scattered desires can pull focus away from the one goal that would actually satisfy the heart.
