Chapter 6 · Dhyana Yoga

Self-Discipline · The Right Means

असंयतात्मना योगो दुष्प्राप इति मे मतिः । वश्यात्मना तु यतता शक्योऽवाप्तुमुपायतः ॥

asaṁyatātmanā yogo duṣprāpa iti me matiḥ, vaśyātmanā tu yatatā śakyo'vāptum upāyataḥ.

Meaning

"For one whose mind is uncontrolled, Yoga is hard to attain, I believe; but for one whose mind is controlled and who strives through the right means, it is attainable."

Explanation

Mastery isn't out of reach—it just requires the right method and honest effort, not superhuman willpower alone.

Today's Life Lesson

If self-control feels hard today, look for a better method rather than blaming yourself.
