Chapter 6 · Dhyana Yoga

Yoga · Freedom from the Bondage of Sorrow

तं विद्याद् दुःखसंयोगवियोगं योगसंज्ञितम् । स निश्चयेन योक्तव्यो योगोऽनिर्विण्णचेतसा ॥

taṁ vidyād duḥkhasaṁyogaviyogaṁ yogasaṁjñitam, sa niścayena yoktavyo yogo'nirviṇṇacetasā.

Meaning

"Know that state, the severance from union with sorrow, to be called Yoga; this Yoga should be practiced with determination and an undespairing mind."

Explanation

Real freedom isn't the absence of hardship—it's no longer being bound to suffering by it, and that takes patient, hopeful persistence.

Today's Life Lesson

When practice feels slow today, keep going without discouragement—determination matters more than speed.
