Chapter 5 · Karma Sanyasa Yoga

Equal Vision · Seeing Past Every Label

विद्याविनयसम्पन्ने ब्राह्मणे गवि हस्तिनि । शुनि चैव श्वपाके च पण्डिताः समदर्शिनः ॥

vidyā-vinaya-sampanne brāhmaṇe gavi hastini śuni caiva śva-pāke ca paṇḍitāḥ sama-darśinaḥ

Meaning

"The truly wise see with equal vision a learned and humble scholar, a cow, an elephant, a dog, and one who eats dogs."

Explanation

This is one of the boldest statements of equality in any scripture — true wisdom sees past every label of status, class, or appearance to the same life shining through everyone. That vision is worth practicing, one person at a time.

Today's Life Lesson

Today, try looking past someone's status or role and simply see the person — that equal vision is a quiet act of respect.
