Illustration for Bhagavad Gita chapter 3 verse 9
Chapter 3 · Karma Yoga

Work as Offering · Turning Duty into Devotion

यज्ञार्थात्कर्मणोऽन्यत्र लोकोऽयं कर्मबन्धनः । तदर्थं कर्म कौन्तेय मुक्तसङ्गः समाचर ॥

yajñārthāt karmaṇo 'nyatra loko 'yaṁ karma-bandhanaḥ tad-arthaṁ karma kaunteya mukta-saṅgaḥ samācara

Meaning

"Work done as an offering does not bind; all other work binds one to this world. Therefore, O Arjuna, perform your duty as an offering, free from attachment."

Explanation

Any task can either trap you or set you free — the difference isn't the task itself but the spirit in which you do it. Doing something as an offering, rather than a transaction, changes everything about how it feels.

Today's Life Lesson

Try doing one task today as a quiet offering rather than an obligation — notice how much lighter it feels.
