Chapter 18 · Moksha Sanyasa Yoga

Never Outgrown · The Purifying Power of the Basics

यज्ञदानतपःकर्म न त्याज्यं कार्यमेव तत् । यज्ञो दानं तपश्चैव पावनानि मनीषिणाम् ॥

yajña-dāna-tapaḥ-karma na tyājyaṁ kāryam eva tat yajño dānaṁ tapaś caiva pāvanāni manīṣiṇām

Meaning

"Acts of sacrifice, charity, and austerity should not be abandoned — they must indeed be performed, for they purify even the wise."

Explanation

Even for someone deeply wise, these ordinary practices of giving, sacrifice, and discipline still matter and still purify. Spiritual growth doesn't mean you outgrow the basics — it means you keep returning to them with fuller understanding.

Today's Life Lesson

Don't skip today's small acts of giving or discipline just because you feel spiritually advanced — the basics keep purifying at every stage.
