Chapter 18 · Moksha Sanyasa Yoga

Nuance With Decisiveness · Holding Both Together

निश्चयं शृणु मे तत्र त्यागे भरतसत्तम । त्यागो हि पुरुषव्याघ्र त्रिविधः सम्प्रकीर्तितः ॥

niścayaṁ śṛṇu me tatra tyāge bharata-sattama tyāgo hi puruṣa-vyāghra tri-vidhaḥ samprakīrtitaḥ

Meaning

"Hear My conclusion on this matter of relinquishment, O best of the Bharatas; renunciation, O tiger among men, has been declared to be of three kinds."

Explanation

Krishna doesn't leave Arjuna in confusion for long — after acknowledging the debate, he offers his own clear conclusion, a model for how to hold nuance without losing decisiveness.

Today's Life Lesson

It's fine to acknowledge complexity today and still land on a clear, workable conclusion for yourself.
