Chapter 18 · Moksha Sanyasa Yoga

Even the Wise Disagree · Certainty Isn't Always There

त्याज्यं दोषवदित्येके कर्म प्राहुर्मनीषिणः । यज्ञदानतपःकर्म न त्याज्यमिति चापरे ॥

tyājyaṁ doṣa-vad ity eke karma prāhur manīṣiṇaḥ yajña-dāna-tapaḥ-karma na tyājyam iti cāpare

Meaning

"Some wise thinkers say all action should be given up as flawed, while others say acts of sacrifice, charity, and austerity should never be abandoned."

Explanation

It's honest of the Gita to show that even wise people disagree on this question — a reminder that certainty isn't always available, and that's okay.

Today's Life Lesson

If experts disagree about something you're wrestling with today, that's normal — you don't need total certainty to move forward thoughtfully.
