Chapter 18 · Moksha Sanyasa Yoga

Same Attention for Both · Not Avoiding, Not Chasing

न द्वेष्ट्यकुशलं कर्म कुशले नानुषज्जते । त्यागी सत्त्वसमाविष्टो मेधावी छिन्नसंशयः ॥

na dveṣṭy akuśalaṁ karma kuśale nānuṣajjate tyāgī sattva-samāviṣṭo medhāvī chinna-saṁśayaḥ

Meaning

"One who neither hates unpleasant work nor clings to pleasant work is a true renunciant, filled with sattva, wise, and free from doubt."

Explanation

The mark of real inner freedom isn't avoiding hard tasks and only chasing easy ones — it's meeting both with the same steady, undivided attention.

Today's Life Lesson

Give both today's easy tasks and its hard ones the same steady attention, without favoring one over the other.
