Chapter 16 · Daivasura Sampad Vibhaga Yoga

Endless Chasing, Endless Anxiety · Checking the Payoff

चिन्तामपरिमेयां च प्रलयान्तामुपाश्रिताः । कामोपभोगपरमा एतावदिति निश्चिताः ॥

cintām aparimeyāṁ ca pralayāntām upāśritāḥ kāmopabhoga-paramā etāvad iti niścitāḥ

Meaning

"Beset by immeasurable anxiety that ends only in death, regarding the gratification of desires as the highest goal, convinced that this is all there is—"

Explanation

Chasing endless gratification tends to produce endless anxiety, not peace. This verse is a quiet invitation to ask whether the goals you're chasing are actually delivering what they promised.

Today's Life Lesson

Notice today if a goal you're chasing is actually bringing peace, or just more anxiety about the next thing.
