Chapter 13 · Kshetra Kshetrajna Vibhaga Yoga

Attachment, Not Experience · What Actually Binds

पुरुषः प्रकृतिस्थो हि भुङ्क्ते प्रकृतिजान्गुणान् । कारणं गुणसङ्गोऽस्य सदसद्योनिजन्मसु ॥

puruṣaḥ prakṛti-stho hi bhuṅkte prakṛti-jān guṇān kāraṇaṁ guṇa-saṅgo 'sya sad-asad-yoni-janmasu

Meaning

"The soul, seated in nature, experiences the qualities born of nature; attachment to these qualities is the cause of its birth in good and evil wombs."

Explanation

It isn't the qualities of nature themselves that trap a person — it's the clinging to them. This verse quietly points at attachment, not experience itself, as the real thing worth working on.

Today's Life Lesson

Experience today's ups and downs fully, but watch for where you start clinging — that clinging is what actually weighs you down.
