Chapter 1 · Arjuna Vishada Yoga

Overwhelm · Naming What You Feel

गाण्डीवं स्रंसते हस्तात्त्वक्चैव परिदह्यते । न च शक्नोम्यवस्थातुं भ्रमतीव च मे मनः ॥

gāṇḍīvaṁ sraṁsate hastāt tvak caiva paridahyate na ca śaknomy avasthātuṁ bhramatīva ca me manaḥ

Meaning

"My bow Gandiva is slipping from my hand, and my skin is burning all over. I am unable to stand steady, and my mind seems to be whirling."

Explanation

Overwhelm doesn't announce itself politely — it arrives as trembling hands and a spinning mind. Naming it out loud, as Arjuna does, is often the first real step toward steadying yourself.

Today's Life Lesson

When your mind starts spinning today, pause and simply name what you're feeling — clarity often begins the moment you say it honestly.
