Chapter 9 · Raja Vidya Raja Guhya Yoga

Wasted Effort · Building on a False Foundation

मोघाशा मोघकर्माणो मोघज्ञाना विचेतसः । राक्षसीमासुरीं चैव प्रकृतिं मोहिनीं श्रिताः ॥

moghāśā moghakarmāṇo moghajñānā vicetasaḥ, rākṣasīm āsurīṁ caiva prakṛtiṁ mohinīṁ śritāḥ.

Meaning

"Their hopes are in vain, their actions are in vain, their knowledge is in vain, and their minds are bewildered—they take refuge in a delusive, demonic, and fiendish nature."

Explanation

When effort is built on a false foundation, it can't produce anything truly lasting, no matter how much energy is poured in.
