Chapter 8 · Akshara Brahma Yoga

The Shape of Our Thoughts · Becoming What We Dwell On

यं यं वापि स्मरन्भावं त्यजत्यन्ते कलेवरम् । तं तमेवैति कौन्तेय सदा तद्भावभावितः ॥

yaṁ yaṁ vāpi smaran bhāvaṁ tyajaty ante kalevaram taṁ tam evaiti kaunteya sadā tad-bhāva-bhāvitaḥ

Meaning

"Whatever state one remembers when leaving the body at the end, that state one attains, O Kaunteya, being always absorbed in that thought."

Explanation

What repeatedly occupies our thoughts becomes, quietly, the shape of who we're becoming. It's worth noticing what you keep returning to in your mind, because it's slowly shaping you.

Today's Life Lesson

Notice what thought you keep returning to today - it's quietly shaping who you're becoming, so choose it with care.
