Chapter 6 · Dhyana Yoga

Equanimity · One Heart Toward All

सुहृन्मित्रार्युदासीनमध्यस्थद्वेष्यबन्धुषु । साधुष्वपि च पापेषु समबुद्धिर्विशिष्यते ॥

suhṛnmitrāryudāsīnamadhyasthadveṣyabandhuṣu, sādhuṣv api ca pāpeṣu samabuddhir viśiṣyate.

Meaning

"One who regards with equal mind well-wishers, friends, enemies, the neutral, mediators, the hateful, relatives, saints, and even sinners, stands supreme."

Explanation

True equanimity isn't pretending everyone is the same to you emotionally—it's refusing to let your inner peace depend on how others treat you.

Today's Life Lesson

Try meeting one difficult person today with the same calm you'd give a friend.
