Chapter 6 · Dhyana Yoga

Self-Mastery · Freedom from Craving

यदा हि नेन्द्रियार्थेषु न कर्मस्वनुषज्जते । सर्वसङ्कल्पसंन्यासी योगारूढस्तदोच्यते ॥

yadā hi nendriyārtheṣu na karmasv anuṣajjate, sarvasaṅkalpasannyāsī yogārūḍhas tadocyate.

Meaning

"When one is no longer attached to sense objects or to actions, having renounced all selfish desire, then one is said to have attained Yoga."

Explanation

The mark of real inner mastery isn't withdrawing from life, but moving through it without being pulled around by craving.

Today's Life Lesson

Do what today asks of you, but watch for the moment craving tries to steer you—that's where your real practice lives.
