Chapter 6 · Dhyana Yoga

The Middle Path · Balance in Everyday Life

युक्ताहारविहारस्य युक्तचेष्टस्य कर्मसु । युक्तस्वप्नावबोधस्य योगो भवति दुःखहा ॥

yuktāhāra-vihārasya yukta-ceṣṭasya karmasu yukta-svapnāvabodhasya yogo bhavati duḥkha-hā

Meaning

"For one who is moderate in eating and recreation, balanced in effort, and regulated in sleep and wakefulness, yoga becomes the destroyer of all suffering."

Explanation

Balance isn't glamorous, but it's often what actually protects our peace — how we eat, rest, work and sleep quietly shapes how steady we feel. Small daily moderation adds up to real relief from suffering.

Today's Life Lesson

Today, aim for moderation rather than extremes in how you eat, rest, and work — steadiness often begins there.
