Illustration for Bhagavad Gita chapter 2 verse 23
Chapter 2 · Sankhya Yoga

Untouchable Core · Beyond Every Blow

नैनं छिन्दन्ति शस्त्राणि नैनं दहति पावकः । न चैनं क्लेदयन्त्यापो न शोषयति मारुतः ॥

nainaṁ chindanti śastrāṇi nainaṁ dahati pāvakaḥ na cainaṁ kledayanty āpo na śoṣayati mārutaḥ

Meaning

"Weapons cannot cut the soul, fire cannot burn it, water cannot wet it, and wind cannot dry it."

Explanation

Krishna piles up image after image of things that simply cannot touch the soul, and the repetition itself is the point — whatever you truly are sits beyond the reach of any single blow life lands on you.

Today's Life Lesson

Whatever hits you today, remember that your deepest self remains untouched by it — let that steady you.
