Illustration for Bhagavad Gita chapter 2 verse 22
Chapter 2 · Sankhya Yoga

Renewal · Shedding What No Longer Fits

वासांसि जीर्णानि यथा विहाय नवानि गृह्णाति नरोऽपराणि । तथा शरीराणि विहाय जीर्णान्यन्यानि संयाति नवानि देही ॥

vāsāṁsi jīrṇāni yathā vihāya navāni gṛhṇāti naro 'parāṇi tathā śarīrāṇi vihāya jīrṇāny anyāni saṁyāti navāni dehī

Meaning

"As a person sheds worn-out garments and wears new ones, so the soul casts off its worn-out body and enters a new one."

Explanation

This gentle image was meant to soften the fear of death, but it works just as well for any ending — a job, a chapter, a version of yourself you've outgrown. Letting go of what's worn out makes room for what's next.

Today's Life Lesson

If some part of your life feels worn out today, let yourself release it gently — you're not losing yourself, just changing clothes.
