Chapter 18 · Moksha Sanyasa Yoga

Freedom From Longing · Fully Engaged, Wanting Nothing

असक्तबुद्धिः सर्वत्र जितात्मा विगतस्पृहः । नैष्कर्म्यसिद्धिं परमां सन्न्यासेनाधिगच्छति ॥

asakta-buddhiḥ sarvatra jitātmā vigata-spṛhaḥ naiṣkarmya-siddhiṁ paramāṁ sannyāsenādhigacchati

Meaning

"With unattached intellect everywhere, the self mastered, free from longing, one attains through renunciation the supreme perfection of freedom from action's bondage."

Explanation

Freedom here isn't the absence of activity, but the absence of longing — you can be fully engaged in life while genuinely wanting nothing from it for yourself.

Today's Life Lesson

Stay fully engaged in today's activities while quietly practicing wanting nothing extra for yourself from them.
