A Reflective Temperament · Recognizing What Fits You

शमो दमस्तपः शौचं क्षान्तिरार्जवमेव च । ज्ञानं विज्ञानमास्तिक्यं ब्रह्मकर्म स्वभावजम् ॥

śamo damas tapaḥ śaucaṁ kṣāntir ārjavam eva ca jñānaṁ vijñānam āstikyaṁ brahma-karma svabhāva-jam

Meaning

"Serenity, self-control, austerity, purity, patience, honesty, knowledge, wisdom, and faith — these are the natural duties born of a Brahmin's nature."

Explanation

These qualities describe a certain kind of temperament suited to teaching and reflection — calm, honest, patient. It's worth recognizing this in yourself if it fits, without forcing yourself into a different mold.

Today's Life Lesson

If calm reflection and teaching come naturally to you, honor that temperament today rather than forcing yourself into a louder role.
