Chapter 16 · Daivasura Sampad Vibhaga Yoga

Choosing Meaning · Keeping the Heart Soft and Hopeful

असत्यमप्रतिष्ठं ते जगदाहुरनीश्वरम् । अपरस्परसम्भूतं किमन्यत्कामहैतुकम् ॥

asatyam apratiṣṭhaṁ te jagad āhur anīśvaram aparaspara-sambhūtaṁ kim anyat kāma-haitukam

Meaning

"They say the world is without truth, without foundation, without a controlling God, born only of mutual union, and driven by nothing but desire."

Explanation

This describes a worldview stripped of any deeper meaning or purpose, and it's worth noticing how heavy and cynical that outlook can feel to carry. Choosing to believe in a deeper order isn't naive — it's often what keeps our hearts soft and hopeful.

Today's Life Lesson

When cynicism tempts you today, choose to believe in a deeper order anyway — it keeps your heart soft, not naive.
