Chapter 14 · Gunatraya Vibhaga Yoga

Letting States Come and Go · True Non-Reactivity

श्रीभगवानुवाच । प्रकाशं च प्रवृत्तिं च मोहमेव च पाण्डव । न द्वेष्टि सम्प्रवृत्तानि न निवृत्तानि काङ्क्षति ॥

śrī-bhagavān uvāca prakāśaṁ ca pravṛttiṁ ca moham eva ca pāṇḍava na dveṣṭi sampravṛttāni na nivṛttāni kāṅkṣati

Meaning

"The Supreme Lord said: One who is transcendent to the modes, O Pandava, neither hates illumination, activity, or delusion when present, nor longs for them when absent."

Explanation

True inner freedom isn't about forcing yourself to only feel positive states — it's the ability to let clarity, activity, or confusion come and go without grasping or resisting any of them. That non-reactive presence is real steadiness.

Today's Life Lesson

Whatever mood shows up today, practice letting it come and go without grasping or resisting — that's real freedom.
