Chapter 14 · Gunatraya Vibhaga Yoga

Inner Trajectory · Where Your Leaning Takes You

ऊर्ध्वं गच्छन्ति सत्त्वस्था मध्ये तिष्ठन्ति राजसाः । जघन्यगुणवृत्तिस्था अधो गच्छन्ति तामसाः ॥

ūrdhvaṁ gacchanti sattva-sthā madhye tiṣṭhanti rājasāḥ jaghanya-guṇa-vṛtti-sthā adho gacchanti tāmasāḥ

Meaning

"Those established in sattva rise upward; those in rajas remain in the middle; those in the lowest mode of tamas sink downward."

Explanation

This describes an inner trajectory, not just a distant afterlife destination — the direction your mind consistently leans shapes where your whole life tends to go.

Today's Life Lesson

Notice today which direction your mind naturally leans — upward toward clarity, or downward toward dullness — and gently choose.
