Chapter 13 · Kshetra Kshetrajna Vibhaga Yoga

The Field and Its Knower · Body and Awareness

श्रीभगवानुवाच । इदं शरीरं कौन्तेय क्षेत्रमित्यभिधीयते । एतद्यो वेत्ति तं प्राहुः क्षेत्रज्ञ इति तद्विदः ॥

śrī-bhagavān uvāca idaṁ śarīraṁ kaunteya kṣetram ity abhidhīyate etad yo vetti taṁ prāhuḥ kṣetra-jña iti tad-vidaḥ

Meaning

"The Blessed Lord said: This body, O son of Kunti, is called the field, and one who knows it is called the knower of the field by those who understand this truth."

Explanation

A simple but useful distinction is drawn here — you have a body, a field of experience, but you are also the one aware of it. Realizing you're the knower, not just the field, is the first step toward real self-understanding.

Today's Life Lesson

Today, remember you are the one aware of your experiences, not just the experiences themselves — that shift in perspective brings clarity.
