Chapter 1 · Arjuna Vishada Yoga

The Honest Pause · Sitting With Grief Before Rising

सञ्जय उवाच । एवमुक्त्वार्जुनः सङ्ख्ये रथोपस्थ उपाविशत् । विसृज्य सशरं चापं शोकसंविग्नमानसः ॥

sañjaya uvāca evam uktvārjunaḥ saṅkhye rathopastha upāviśat visṛjya sa-śaraṁ cāpaṁ śoka-saṁvigna-mānasaḥ

Meaning

"Sanjay said: Having spoken thus on the battlefield, Arjuna cast aside his bow and arrows and sank down into his chariot, his mind overwhelmed with grief."

Explanation

Chapter one ends not with a solution but with a warrior sitting down, grief-stricken. There's no shame in this pause — it's the honest low point from which the Gita's entire teaching will unfold.

Today's Life Lesson

If you need to simply sit down with how you feel today before you can act, let yourself have that moment — it's often where clarity begins.
