Chapter 1 · Arjuna Vishada Yoga

Naming the Despair · Arjuna's Breaking Point

यदि मामप्रतीकारमशस्त्रं शस्त्रपाणयः । धार्तराष्ट्रा रणे हन्युस्तन्मे क्षेमतरं भवेत् ॥

yadi mām apratīkāram aśastraṁ śastra-pāṇayaḥ dhārtarāṣṭrā raṇe hanyus tan me kṣemataraṁ bhavet

Meaning

"It would be better for me if the armed sons of Dhritarashtra killed me unarmed and unresisting on this battlefield."

Explanation

This is Arjuna at his lowest — willing to die rather than act. It's a raw, almost extreme statement, but the Gita includes it anyway, because real transformation starts from naming despair honestly, not from pretending it isn't there.

Today's Life Lesson

If you're at a genuine low point today, it's okay to say so plainly — honesty about where you stand is the first real step toward moving forward.
